Accommodations – why?

At times educators seem concerned that a student is getting away with something (sloth, unfair advantage, easy work) when pressed to actually provide the accommodations recommended by an educational psychologist or provincially mandated based on test scores.

While each accommodation and each learner have specific to them rationales, there are two primary reasons to accommodate learning differences:

1. Optimize learning
2. Accurately assess learning progress
