Learning Disabilities
Hi, I don’t know if anyone is aware of this, but October is Learning Disability awareness month, often referred to as LD. I would first likely to say that LD is not an intellectual disability (mental retardation) or a sensory impairment (autism), in fact people with a learning disability have an average or above average IQ. Someone with a LD has a problem interpreting what their reading. There are many forms of LD such as; Dyslexia, they have trouble processing what their reading, Dyscalculia, trouble processing numbers, Dysgraphia, has trouble with writing, Auditory Processing Disorder, has trouble with interpreting auditory information, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), has problems with concentrating and focusing their attention. People with an LD have trouble processing certain information, and so in those areas they fall behind in class. It’s important for students with an LD to get identified as soon as possible so…
